Azura Benguerra Island

Previous Next

Deserted beaches of pure white sand that extend for miles, sparkling turquoise Waters crisscrossed by local dhows plying their trade, sunny days and star studded nights…this is Azura Mozambique. An unspoilt island within a Marine National Park.

The lodge has 18 villas that are nestled along one of the last undiscovered stretches of beach in the world, with all the creature comforts you could wish for, sparkling private pools, Mozambican Butler-hosts to look after your every need, fish and seafood fresh from the ocean, a fantastic range of activities and experiences, an African spa to relax in, all at a community based project where the local islanders benefit as much as you. Azura is paradise found.

The villas were hand built by the local community, and blend modern eco-chic designs with all that is traditional to the local environment. Interiors are cool, spacious, comfortable, and designed to reflect the moods and textures of Africa. Outside there are plenty of lounging areas to relax in, with views that rival some of the best in the world.

Activites are plentiful as a kaleidoscope of colour greets you above and below the ocean. Magnificent reefs for diving and snorkelling, home to the turtles that nest on the island’s outer shores. Migrating humpback whales, dolphins, and the elusive and protected dugong ply our waters, along with marlin, sailfish and tuna to tempt the sports fishermen. We have a vast array of birdlife, our local people make for fascinating cultural encounters, and the starry night sky is quite magnificent to behold.

Guest Reviews

"Very personal service from arrival to departure"
Our host Anderson looked after us for our whole stay with charm and wit
great excursions from snorkelling to diving to fishing and exploring the unspoilt paradise the whole area provides. Rooms have the most idyllic setting overlooking the perfect sandy beach Its more like an upscale safari lodge than formal 5* hotel.

“ We couldn't have asked for anything more"

This was truly one of the most relaxing and breath-taking experiences I've had in my years of travel. Beyond the amazing service, friendly staff, and over the top resort, you are treated to the most amazing views and offered experiences that simply can not be found anywhere else.
